Quick Answer

Princeton ISD started the 2026 school year with 11,958 students, 1,413 more than on the first day of 2025. Several campuses are already under pressure while new schools are opening or planned. That is why attendance boundaries may keep changing as Princeton grows.

Capacity pressure

Some schools are already feeling it

Harper Elementary is one of the clearest examples. In September, district officials said kindergarten and first grade were closed to additional enrollment, with only 19 spaces remaining across Harper’s other grades. Lowe Elementary was also nearing capacity, and a grade at Mayfield was being monitored.

That pressure remains after Joyce Carrell Elementary and Thomas Banschbach Middle School opened for 2026–27.

Attendance boundaries

Why zones can change

Princeton ISD assigns schools by residential address and says zone adjustments will be ongoing as campuses are added. That does not mean every family will be rezoned every year. Today’s assigned school may not remain permanent.

More campuses ahead

More schools are already planned

The district projects 19,574 students by 2034. Abbott Elementary and Talley Elementary are scheduled for 2027–28, while Philip Anthony Senior High School is planned to begin opening in 2029–30. Additional campuses are part of the longer-term growth plan.

For Princeton families

Check the current zone before making a move

Before enrolling, renting or buying a home, check the district’s current attendance-zone map using the actual address. In a district growing this quickly, the school map can matter almost as much as the neighborhood map.
